He has written books for Lonely Planet and Rough Guides, had a weekly syndicated travel column in over 40 newspapers for five years, hosted a Travel Channel show, served as an editor for Skift and Scandinavian Airlines inflight magazine, and contributed to publications such as National Geographic Traveler, Reader’s Digest, Esquire, Men’s Journal, The Guardian and Huffington Post. On the speaking circuit, Doug has given lectures at dozens of tourism conferences, spoken to a sold-out audience at National Geographic Headquarters, in Bali on behalf of the UNWTO, and he had the honor of delivering a TED Talk at the start of 2015 in Stockholm, where he lives with his family.
