Overtourism results in harmful effects on many destinations, their ecosystems, and local populations, prompting several cities and countries to take radical measures. But are these measures the most appropriate? To go beyond perceptions and provide an objective basis for the debate, Evaneos and the consulting firm Roland Berger have created the first Overtourism Index. Built using external data collected from a sample of 70 of the world's top 100 tourist destinations, this index was designed as a decision-making tool for tourism stakeholders.
