Long-term, the judges felt that the data framework will provide a central pillar to working towards setting ambitious future targets, building out from a set of baseline indicators - setting-up British Columbia as a leader in driving forward action on climate change. The focus on community and destination stewardship not only advocates better understanding around the issues, but is also key to ensuring from governance down to individual stakeholders the urgency and need for change is understood.
The judges considered this to be a resounding success on all points. The strategy and concept is solid, multi-faceted, well thought out both in terms of the short term objectives, legacy and long-term strategic goals. The comprehensive approach really stands out, from the development of an authentic brand developed locally, to a truly eclectic product development programme bringing the flavours of Aruba to the fore, both online and in the experience itself.
The Purposeful Brand Award recognises destination, tourism and travel brands that use their platform to make a positive impact on the world. The award celebrates campaigns and initiatives that are creative, effective and aligned with the brand's sense of purpose and creating positive impact or change.
The judges loved the way in which NBTC executed it brilliantly and understood the levers to pull in order to trigger brilliantly shareable unique perspectives inspired by the Dutch way of life. Careful consideration to these elements naturally led to high PR value and real impact on the media value generated.
Jill really impressed the judges with her talent, highly personable and educational approach to content creation, her focus on sustainability and all-round engaging content. Whilst perhaps not what she sets out to be, she is a true ambassador and positive influencer for Newfoundland and Labrador and inspiration to others. If ever there was an example of the sort of influencers and content creators destinations should be working with, this is surely it. The judges particularly loved how her passion for the region in which she lives and studies is her sole focus and how she's been able to combine scientific expertise with creative talent which extends to an interesting media mix.
The judges were highly impressed with the overall philosophy behind PERS and the way in which it is focusing on reinforcing equity at a destination level, with a particular focus on SMEs. It also pivoting around a strong sense of values and purpose defining the overall mission and indeed the problem Explorins are trying to solve.
