Strategic Tourism Plan for Santiago de Compostela 2017-2022

After a detailed study of the destination and getting to know the opinion of the sector and the public, the Santiago de Compostela Strategic Tourism Plan 2017-2022 was defined. This new strategy is structured around a series of general principles and key criteria, which are reflected in its challenges, in its basic strategies and in the specific action programs designed.

Specifically, the Strategic Tourism Plan of Santiago is based on five general principles:

1. Social, economic and environmental sustainability of tourism.

2. Optimizing the governance of tourism in Santiago.

3. Decentralization of tourist flows.

4. Capacity for deseasonalization of demand.

5. Reversal of the tourist gentrification phenomenon.

On the other hand, the key criteria that govern the designed roadmap are public-private cooperation, sustainability, quality, professionalization, innovation and talent.
