In 2022 tourism organisations have been tackling the challenges presented by the post-pandemic times, preparing for a more sustainable future and adopting an agile approach to stay competitive in a dynamic environment.
The theme of Trends & Brand Engagement on 1st December at X. Festival 2022 focuses on predicting the transitions and trends that will be influencing consumer behaviour and industry insights in the coming year.
The pandemic has not just reshaped travel, but also consumers' work lifestyle. One of the most prominent trends witnessed after the pandemic was remote working. Many key players in the industry are making the most out of this trend and transforming their marketing strategy to attract this growing market. For instance, more and more destinations are now offering a new Digital Nomad Visa to attract remote workers, such as Portugal, Mauritius, Iceland and Germany.
In South Africa, a new Digital Nomad Visa has been announced in April 2022, but it is not active yet. Nevertheless, regional destinations are already working towards attracting remote workers.
For example, Cape Town Tourism collaborated with Airbnb to launch the Remote Working Hub to develop a one-stop solution for supporting remote working travellers and local hosts.
Velma Corcoran, Airbnb, and Leigh Dawber, Cape Town Tourism, will be joining us at X. Festival to dive into how Cape Town is promoting in-destination opportunities for nomads.
Partnerships sit at the heart of building a strong and performant digital strategy, one that can both tell the brand's story, positioning it just right amongst key audiences, but also generating interest all the way to a clear conversion.
We're going to look at the huge added value co-op marketing plays in the digital visitor journey and how the right mix of partners can deliver full-funnel results with Katarina Kliajic, Google, for the Travel Vertical.
In this session, we'll be hearing from digital nomads who will be sharing their experiences. Alexandra Lazarin, Senior Trip Designer at Airbnb Luxe, and Nelleke Meijer, community manager of the digital nomads' community "Live it up, Las Palmas!" in Gran Canaria, will join this session and share how it is to be a remote worker.
Alexandra has spent the last two years living the remote lifestyle, quitting her home and choosing to use travel and Airbnb's flexible work-anywhere policy as an opportunity to try different places to live and work. Alexandra will share what it was like to make the switch, from the experience to seeking inspiration and finding communities to engage with. More specifically, she’ll also give insights about being part of the digital nomad community in Gran Canaria and what she also learnt from others.
Nelleke will share how she dedicated her free time to building a strong community for digital nomads, remote workers, expats and local entrepreneurs. This engaging discussion will explore the trend from a traveller, worker and company perspective, to better understand the opportunity, value and also limitations to be aware of.
User Generated Content (UGC) is key for any marketeer today. According to a TINT report, 6 in 10 marketers feel that their audience engages more with UGC in marketing and communication channels.
The tourism industry is no different and follows the trend, as destinations are using UGC more than ever to do just that.
Hannah Grant, Director of Demand Generation & Growth at CrowdRiff, will explore what makes UGC an indispensable tool for today’s destination marketers. We'll also see examples of destinations across the globe using UGC to meet their marketing goals.
Join us to discuss how destinations are embracing trends to become more competitive in the market. Are brands still effective in engaging with consumers in light of an increasing number of pressures? Are there any opportunities for destinations to attract new segments?
These are only some of the questions that will be explored. You can register on the X. Festival website for free and access your dashboard to save your favourite sessions.
